Argh, I hadn't realized that only the first Mrs. Bradley mystery was available. I remember how sad I was when I found out they only did one season, but at least I got to watch all of those episodes. And I'd been thinking about revisiting, if only because I am now more familiar with Neil Dudgeon from his Midsomer Murders role, so it would be a kick to see him here.

And I also just read Death of Jezebel, but I think you liked it better than me. The British Crime Library books are still pretty good! My most recent discovery via them is E.C.R. Lorac/Carol Carnac, whom I'm kind of obsessed with at the moment.

And we definitely put Father Brown on for comfort viewing. Related, am pretty excited that the second season of Sister Boniface is available on Britbox soon!

Yeah, same—after watching and loving that first one, I was so sad that there are only five or six total. But I'll take what I can get! It took me a second before I realized why I found the chauffeur so familiar, hahaha, and yelped with delight when my brain finally made the connection.

I can definitely see where Death of Jezebel could be hit or miss with readers—I loved the interactions between the two detectives and their very different country mouse/city mouse styles, and how much it engaged with poking at and exploring tropes of the genre (both character-wise and story-wise), and it felt so much (to me) like something that could have come out much more recently than 1948. But! There are a gazillion books out there, and obviously some will hit better for each of us than others. That said, you're the second person in a week to bring up Lorac/Carnac, so I'm going to DEFINITELY have to check those out!!

I'll look for Sister Boniface, too, I haven't tried that one yet.

I did really love the interactions between the detectives!

I'm definitely curious to read the others, I feel like every other cop the country detective ran into had Opinions about how he'd handled his previous cases, LOL.

Yes! I'm so curious about that case and won't if it's in one of the earlier books? I think I read a few of them ages ago, but have no memory of them.

I'll let you know if I ever find out, hahaha.
