My crafting included stuffed Rudolph Reindeer surgery x2 - my book niece ran down the batteries in BOTH reindeer which, months after Christmas, she still plays with daily. Yes, her parents love her a lot because that thing's nose blinks and it plays a happy song every time it is bumped. Every. Time...😱
When I worked in the children's bookstore all those years ago, all of our noisiest toys were purchased by people who were buying for kids who did NOT live in the same household. Many of them knew EXACTLY what they were doing, and I still look back on that a weird sort of smirky nostalgia, hahaha.
PS - Adding to my TBR, I found FENCE - but novelized - in our library loan system (by Sarah Rees Brennan). It's probably fun, but -- it's already too wordy, when I know the graphic version exists!
I saw that in our system when I was searching for Volume Five!! I had no idea it existed, either. Which reminds me: There are apparently a couple of Goldie Vance middle grade novels that came out after the comics--I shall go and request those right now!
