I do love a good British window/spinster mystery - and they really are all unencumbered by men somehow. MAKES ONE WONDER, doesn't it...? (Well, I don't WONDER about Mrs. Bradley; I'm pretty sure she conveniently did away with hers...)
I've read lots more British ones, and this one had a distinctly American flavor, which may have been part of what threw me? I feel like when it comes to older American mysteries, I'm much more well-read when it comes to noir than I am with books along these lines, which is part of why I'm suddenly so curious about what I've missed. Always more to discover, which is rad because we'll never get bored? (And I've never read the Mrs. Bradleys, I just always picture Diana Rigg wearing a shiny turban, heh.)
That snowflake is just SUCH A MOOD.
