Aw, HOW TO SOLVE YOUR OWN MURDER does sound like silly fun (honestly, sometimes all you want is a mystery that goes through its paces properly and doesn't... tax you) - although, what would great-aunt whosit have done if no one had killed her??? ☺ I LOVE the cover to THE NIGHT RAVEN; with the houses and silhouettes, it has Willoughby Chase vibes like wow. I sometimes ache to find another cozily Aiken-adjacent novel, but it sounds like it just might be time for a reread, until then...
I feel like I'd have to flip back and see what the will said to do in the event that she wasn't murdered?? (She'd been convinced that she was going to be murdered since she got an ominous fortune at a village fete when she was a teenager, because cozy British murder mystery, hahaha.)
I re-read Wolves a while back, and it 9000% held up, so let me know if you end up diving back in. I've been starting to think about re-reading DWJ's Chrestomanci books, or maybe some E. Nesbit? Apparently the shift into fall has me wanting to be cozy in body, spirit, AND mind.
My DWJ fan group on FB is doing a year of DWJ in publishing order, and we read Magicians of Caprona this week. I'm having a lovely time and you should both come join me. It's the Appreciation Society.
I WILL READ ALONG IF YOU REVISIT THE CHRESTOMANCI-verse.
I tend to reread DWJ in October anyway - at least one - and I was just thinking of rereading FIRE AND HEMLOCK, but I am entirely here to switch gears, because I have been lowkey in love with that dude since the first time I encountered him. *swoons dramatically*
