Your ghosty picks sound fun. I somehow just stumbled into a witch week because someone recommended I read Catherine Bakewell's FLOWERHEART. It has a bit of a Kiki's Delivery Service vibe, but since I had only ever seen the movie, I decided to grab the first book in the series. And *then* Sarah Beth Durst's THE SPELLSHOP finally came back to the library and I was awash in witches. I was really surprised by how well all three books went together.
I just finished a manuscript and it's resting over the weekend and I so look forward to reading absolute whatever and laying around and staring at the ceiling...😴
The Spellshop just arrived at our library last week, and my coworker snapped it up so fast the book started smoking, hahaha. I'll read it after her! And I've never read Kiki either, good call.
I just looked up Flowerheart, and I am always here for nature-y plant growing magic, so I'll put it on my list for sure. We also just got a picture book at the library called Millie Fleur's Poison Garden, so I'm looking forward to that one—even though I was never ever remotely part of that subculture, I can never resist picture books about baby goths, lol.
On the nature-y plant growing magic front, one of the characters in Kirsten Miller's The Change develops powers along those lines, and she uses them to EXCELLENT effect.
