Reading: After reading Alice Atherton earlier this week, I went on a little bit of a tear and took home a bunch of 1920s-related books, so apparently that’s what I’m doing this weekend? Oh, and also Dan Santat’s graphic memoir; Ellen Potter’s sequel to Hither & Nigh; and Station Eternity, which I know nothing about other than that the series is called Midsolar Murders, which is basically the most hilarious thing I’ve ever heard, AND one of the blurbs promises that it’s like if Jessica Fletcher lived on Babylon 5, which is the RADDEST thing I’ve ever heard. I’ll keep you posted.
Watching: The Criterion Channel has a Women of the West series running this month, and as westerns are EASILY one of my weakest genres, film-wise, I’m diving in.
Chaos Terminal is the sequel to Jessica Fletcher on B5!!! LOLOL.
I am going to track down that Beth Cato book purely because that title rules, but ALSO because my library's November reading challenge includes "a food-related book." Excellent!!
You know what I will be doing…it’s a Super Mario Wonder weekend, LOL. Though I am reading someone’s doctorate thesis on Chimpanzee nest building that I can’t wait to dive further into.
Ooh, Station Eternity looks so good! I know I've seen the cover before, but my eyes just glazed over it. I'll definitely pick it up now.
I'm reading my first Lois McMaster Bujold (The Sharing Knife) and will probably spend the weekend devouring the rest of the series. Apparently Americanish fantasy worlds are very much my shit. Who knew?
Even after knowing so so many folks who love her books, I've STILL never read one?? It sounds like The Sharing Knife must be a solid entry point, so maybe I should snag it from the library? (I'm so glad you got entirely hooked like that, it's such a great feeling.)
Yay for Green Knowe books! The film book is Junk Film: Why Bad Movies Matter, by Katharine Coldiron. I'm really liking it. And I have loved the new MST seasons! So I'm in favor of another one. 😁
It *is* so exciting and amazing!! I can't believe it's coming together. It's the Ridgeway, a trail that goes right back to prehistory. 90 miles (!) of mostly chalk, but we will be day hikers, with our luggage carried from one lodging to the next. I'm going with my mom and two friends.
Reading: felt spooky and read Enemy at Green Knowe. Am working on very fun book of essays about bad movies. Also want to read Crying of Lot 49 again.
Watching: trying to decide between a new Rifftrax or Plan 9 From Outer Space (inspired by book about bad movies).
Plans: going to exciting Nagar Kirtan event with friends from work! Also, about to put deposit on super exciting trip for summer: a long hike in UK. I am so thrilled about this I can't even tell you.
Oooo, I haven't read any of the Green Knowe books in a million years, I should TOTALLY revisit, thanks for the reminder there. What's the title of the book of essays on bad movies??
JESSICA FLETCHER ON BABYLON 5?
I cannot WAIT for the review on that.
I would watch that!!
Talk about something that feels MADE for us, right?
Also, on deck:
AN (occasionally) HAPPY FAMILY, by Cliff Burke
DEATHMARK, by Kate Stradling
CHAOS TERMINAL, Mur Lafferty
A THOUSAND RECIPES FOR REVENGE, by Beth Cato

I have the sneaking suspicion that if I "accidentally" stumble into Bull Moose this weekend I might "accidentally" buy it, DAMN YOUR EYES LOLOL

OOOH! What a good reminder to reread the series!

Speaking of Rifftrax, are you planning on kicking in on the MST3K Season Fourteen fundraiser? I'm still figuring out what I'm pledging, but good grief, those nerds bring me so much joy. If you haven't seen it: https://showmaker.mst3k.com/makeseason14?ref=cr_0Cwu14_ab_5o9JUg2mqe55o9JUg2mqe5
